What will be the popular trends in 2012 and what events will be the influence??
My guess is on the much anticipated release of The Great Gatsby, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, and Tobey Maguire. As one of fashion history's most identifiable eras, the roaring 20s are coming back but with a modern twist. The remake of Gatsby is having the costumes custom made, allowing for a contemporary version we can identify with and work into our wardrobe. So we can expect some incredible looks!
Flappers of the 1920s wore straight and flat dresses accessorized with long strands of pearls. Pastel colors shown in luxurious fabrics and detailed with fringe, beads, or feathers were also common. Ralph Lauren has already put his own spin on the 1920s dress in his Spring/Summer 2012 collection. He doesn't just stem his collection from the standard flapper dress, he also incorporates women's 3-piece suits which mirror the character Jay Gatsby's.
This trend can be easily found and easily worn. Just find a neutral toned dress with fun detailing, pair it with lavish jewelry and some fun heels and you're the new Daisy Buchanan!
